There have been traps in each of the places we've unlocked. We avoided them mostly unharmed until last night. Zack and Kain might have died last night.
Get a long stick. Don't step on, lean against, or touch anything before you've probed it from maximal distance. Stay behind doors as you open them. Enter all unexplored spaces back to back. Be extra careful when you remove objects - they might be balancing something.
[Finally he stops, trying to think of more advice. Three hundred years of tomb raiding, he's learned a thing or two...]
We have a hocky stick. Don't know if it'll help, but The first trap was a spring loaded ax. Second was a bear trap painted black to not reflect light. The third was rigged to the drawer. It was probably a bomb of some sort. Made glass shoot every where.
[He will include pictures of the ax trap after it was sprung, the eyes painted all over the second room, and the bear trap. Nothing of the last one.]
We can't plan for all contingencies. But it's a good start. It seems like all the triggers were fairly simple things - stands to reason here - so if you stick to a thorough probing routine of any room you enter, you might just be all right. See if you can find something to use for a hook that would let you open things at a distance - if you find a piece of wire in the rubble that can be twisted, that might do, and you could also attach it to the end of the stick.
I won't tell you to stop - don't stop. Nothing else will make it worth it. But keep me updated.
[He won't get a response until that evening. Zell will send a picture, but everything is static or distorted- well, everything but the rag doll sitting in the center.]
Nothing is in the room. Just a chair with the doll sitting on it. The door is pretty heavy. Going to try poking it tomorrow.
[It's a hell of a day, waiting for that response, and a hell of a relief when it comes.]
Have you tried filming it? I assume there's a great deal of static and interference. Anything else? Have you experienced any of the usual symptoms - headache, dizziness, panic?
The doll being trapped would be obvious. There's likely to be something else on top of it. Protect yourself as much as you can when you poke it - don't touch it with your bare hands or make eye contact. And try not to panic if it comes to life and attacks you.
Yeah, we'll film it over night. We have company, so we can't really do anything rash tonight. No symptoms or anything. Going to give it friends in a moment. The other toys have been interested in what we're doing.

Date: 2016-05-25 06:19 am (UTC)I can breathe through my nose again if that's the kind of positive news you're after. Other than that, we do our best.
And you're going to do something absurdly dangerous, aren't you.

We were safe only because they asked us to stand by the door.
We got one more key from it.
Going to finish it before someone else gets hurt.

Day 120
Date: 2016-05-29 02:12 am (UTC)Found a keycard to the Inn.
We're meeting back up with Zack and Kunsel first :)
Then we'll head down there.

Date: 2016-05-31 03:04 pm (UTC)Thank you for the update. It's a relief to see.
If the keycard was at the end of a chain of traps, you must assume that the hotel could be just as dangerous. Be careful.
